  8. That is so cool! I would have loved to have been there. I have a beagle/coonhound mix, I can just see him out there running with the dogs. Of course, he'd get distracted 30 seconds in, but still lol

    Some British legacy still!!!

This is going to be my last visit (at least for a while) Sue, as I am having to prioritise and manage my time a little differently - I have greatly enjoyed my weekly visits to places different from my usual rounds - but sometimes its necessary to pull on the reins!!! You'll remain on my blogroll and watch out for me gee-plussing here there and everywhere &*> Hugs, YAM xx

    1. I'm not sure these folks actually hunt (as in kill) foxes. They were having the hounds track the scent of fox urine that was put on a rag, then drug along through the woods and fields prior to the "hunt". It was fascinating to watch!

  29. Happy post Memorial Day! My WW includes horses too, they are gentle giants, dignified and lovely creatures. In your pics, we see that the horse and rider act as one, a team bond that is so nice to see!

  39. My art teacher from the art workshop I attended last weekend loves participating in these mock hunts. I learned that the dogs may not be referred to as dogs, but as hounds. Her stories were very colorful, but she's either crazy or very brave, because the riders have some nasty falls. I was thinking how much I'd love to photograph such an event and amazed to see that you did just that and posted your pics in the same week that I was interested in the subject. :)

  49. I am not so good yet with speed photography, so for me they are all difficult to take. So very clear fotos. Why do they have to employ a lot of dogs too?

    ReplyDelete
  50. They make for lovely pictures, but I've never understood the appeal of so many people and dogs going after the same poor animal.

  51. Wonderful! I screeched with delight when I saw the pictures of all the dogs surrounding the man in the horse ;0)

  61. These are such great shots! I am not a fan of hunting, but I understand that there are "mock" hunts -- perhaps this is one of those?

  62. These shots are great. I absolutely love them.

  63. Good captures of the hunt! Interesting set of pics. Nice to see they were just chasing the scent as you say in your comment above. It's always hard with hunts, it looks so glamourous and farmers will say foxes are a pest especially for sheep but it must be a nasty way to die when they do hunt animals. Bit controversial in Ireland too
